Set along a secluded stretch of Mozambique’s spectacular Indian Ocean coastline, White Pearl Resorts is a Black-owned luxury beach resort in Ponta Mamoli, south of Maputo.

The intimate resort features just 22 ocean-facing suites, each designed to blend into the surrounding coastal dunes while maximizing views of the Indian Ocean. Every suite includes its own private plunge pool, making White Pearl especially appealing for honeymoons, romantic escapes and travelers looking for a more secluded alternative to a large beach resort.

Guests can choose between 16 elevated Pool Suites, positioned on timber stilts among the dunes, and six Beach Pool Suites offering direct access to the resort’s private beachfront.

Beyond the accommodations, White Pearl is very much an experience-driven resort. Guests can spend their days snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, exploring the coastline or joining ocean safaris in search of dolphins and seasonal humpback whales. The resort’s PADI-accredited dive center provides access to the protected reefs off Mozambique’s southern coast.

For a slower pace, White Pearl offers spa treatments, private pools, oversized beach daybeds and miles of largely undeveloped coastline. Dining highlights local flavors and seafood, while the resort’s remote location creates the feeling of an island escape without actually leaving the mainland.

Why Stay Here

White Pearl offers an unusual combination of luxury, privacy, nature and Mozambican ownership. With only 22 suites spread along the dunes, the experience is far removed from a conventional high-rise beach resort.

Its location also makes White Pearl an excellent addition to a Southern Africa itinerary. Travelers can combine an Indian Ocean beach escape with wildlife experiences in Maputo National Park/Special Reserve or continue into South Africa for a safari.

Ownership & Heritage

White Pearl Resorts is Black-owned and Mozambican-owned.

Mozambican entrepreneur Florival Mucave has been publicly identified as the owner of White Pearl Resorts. In an interview with GQ South Africa, Mucave discussed the development of White Pearl and described the five-star resort as fully Mozambican-owned.

Mucave’s involvement makes White Pearl particularly significant within Southern Africa’s luxury hospitality landscape: a locally owned Mozambican resort competing in the high-end international beach and safari travel market.

The resort also emphasizes conservation and community responsibility. Its accommodations were designed around the sensitive dune environment, and White Pearl has documented conservation initiatives connected with the protected marine and natural areas surrounding Ponta Mamoli.

Location

Ponta Mamoli, Zitundo, Mozambique

White Pearl sits on Mozambique’s Lagoon Coast between the Indian Ocean and the protected natural landscapes surrounding Maputo National Park. The resort can arrange road, helicopter and other transfers from Maputo and the South African border.
