Set in Old Towne on the Caribbean island of Montserrat, Vue Pointe Hotel is a historic, family-owned hotel whose roots stretch back to 1961. Established by Montserratian hospitality pioneer Michael Symons Osborne, the property represents generations of local entrepreneurship, Caribbean hospitality and resilience.
Surrounded by Montserrat’s dramatic volcanic landscape and Caribbean Sea views, Vue Pointe became one of the island’s recognized hospitality landmarks, welcoming visitors seeking a quieter, more personal Caribbean experience.
Unlike the large international resort developments found elsewhere in the region, Vue Pointe’s story is closely connected to the island’s own people and history.
For travelers interested in Black-owned hotels, heritage properties and lesser-known Caribbean destinations, Vue Pointe offers a compelling connection to Montserrat’s hospitality legacy.
Vue Pointe Hotel’s greatest distinction is its history and connection to Montserrat.
The property offers travelers an opportunity to discover a less-commercialized Caribbean island known for its natural beauty, volcanic scenery, cultural heritage and close-knit communities.
Montserrat appeals particularly to visitors interested in heritage tourism, nature, peaceful island surroundings and authentic local experiences.
Travelers should confirm the property’s current accommodation availability and operating arrangements before planning a stay.
Vue Pointe Hotel was founded in December 1961 by Michael Symons Osborne, affectionately known as Mas Gen, a pioneering Montserratian entrepreneur whose vision helped establish locally owned hospitality on the island.
Recognizing the need for accommodations as Montserrat attracted international visitors and property investors, Osborne developed Vue Pointe in Old Towne overlooking Old Road Bay and the Belham Valley.
Following his death in 1967, his sons Bertrand and Cedric Osborne assumed responsibility for the family’s businesses, with Cedric taking over management of Vue Pointe.
Under Cedric’s leadership, the hotel became one of Montserrat’s best-known hospitality and social landmarks. Its distinctive cottages, dining experiences, live entertainment and welcoming atmosphere attracted international visitors and local residents alike.
Cedric’s wife, Carol Osborne, became an important partner in the hotel’s operations, helping sustain the family business through decades of change, including the devastating volcanic eruptions that transformed Montserrat in the 1990s.
Their son Michael Osborne continued the family’s hospitality legacy, gaining extensive experience in international hotel management and tourism.
In 2023, Montserrat’s tourism authorities honored Cedric and Carol Osborne for their exceptional contribution to the island’s tourism industry, recognizing a hospitality legacy that began more than six decades earlier.
