Palacio Provincial is a luxury, adults-only boutique hotel (Curio Collection by Hilton) located in the heart of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Housed in a meticulously restored 19th-century neoclassical building, it blends its rich diplomatic history with modern sophistication. 

Historic Significance

The building has served as a central hub for Puerto Rican diplomacy for most of its 200-year history. 

  • Original Use: Built in 1874 on a lot that was originally a cemetery, it first served as the Diputación Provincial de Puerto Rico (Provincial Council).
  • Government Roles: Over the years, it has housed the US Post Office (the first in PR), the US Department of Agriculture, and eventually the Puerto Rico Department of State for the latter half of the 20th century.
  • Architectural Jewel: It is considered one of the architectural gems of the historic district, located directly across from the Plaza de Armas
