Finger Lakes Treehouses is owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Darrel Maxam and Patrice Coney-Maxam through their company, Maxam Hotels. Darrel, the company’s CEO, lead designer, and master builder, personally designed and handcrafted the treehouses using his background in construction management, visual arts, and marketing. Originally from the Caribbean, his vision was to create a destination unlike anything else in New York.
Patrice, a Sodus, New York native and former registered nurse, oversees the property’s interior design, guest experience, marketing, and day-to-day operations. Together, they have transformed a peaceful 48-acre property into one of New York’s most distinctive Black-owned luxury lodging destinations, blending sustainable tourism, thoughtful design, and warm hospitality.
