Ownership & Heritage

Comfort Inn & Suites Tobago was developed by Towers Hospitality Group Limited, a Tobago-based hospitality company associated with the Richards family.

The hotel’s development was spearheaded by the late Allan Richards, chairman of Towers Hospitality Group Limited, alongside managing director Abena Richards.

Allan Richards was a respected Tobagonian businessman and public servant who served as the first Chief Administrator of the Tobago House of Assembly from 1996 to 2008. His contributions to public service and entrepreneurship earned him the Tobago Medal of Honour (Gold).

The hotel opened in August 2022, bringing a 74-room international hotel franchise to Tobago while maintaining a locally rooted ownership structure.

During construction, the development employed more than 200 local workers and created opportunities for Tobagonian suppliers and service providers.

Although Comfort Inn & Suites is part of the American Choice Hotels brand, its development and original ownership reflect the participation of Black Tobagonian entrepreneurs in the international hospitality industry.

The property represents an important example of locally developed Caribbean hospitality, combining global brand recognition with economic investment in Tobago.
