Mthalane acquired the property in 2021, during one of the most challenging periods the global hospitality industry had experienced. Previously operating as Forever White River, she subsequently rebranded and repositioned the property as Hotel 247.
Her background spans more than two decades across the hospitality and fast-moving consumer goods sectors, including experience in sales, operations, management, customer service and business leadership.
Hotel 247’s growth has also received support through South Africa’s Tourism Transformation Fund and National Empowerment Fund (NEF). In September 2026, South Africa’s Department of Tourism highlighted the property during Tourism Month as an example of expanding Black and women’s ownership within the country’s tourism economy.
