Black Development & Ownership Story
Destiny Exclusive Hotel & Convention Centre, Steve Tshwete Middelburg is a R350-million hotel and convention development created through a partnership between the Municipal Employees Pension Fund (MEPF) and Akani Properties.
MEPF reports that it holds an 80% stake in the development, while Akani Properties holds 20%. Akani, a Black-owned South African property development company led by Zamani Letjane, developed the 150-room property. The hotel operates under the Destiny brand and is managed by Carnation Hotels.
