Ownership & Heritage
Bay Gardens Hotel is the original property behind Bay Gardens Resorts, the Black-owned and Saint Lucian-owned hotel company founded by Joyce and Desmond Destang.
The Destangs, both former educators, entered Saint Lucia’s hospitality industry in the 1990s and transformed their initial investment into a growing family hotel company. Their success helped establish Bay Gardens as an important example of locally rooted Caribbean hotel ownership.
The company remains family-owned and locally managed, with Joyce Destang serving as Managing Director and the next generation of the Destang family helping lead the brand forward.
