Located in the beautiful colonial city of San Miguel de Allende, Casa ELM Boutique Guesthouse is a thoughtfully designed Black-owned retreat founded by entrepreneur and community builder Michelle Wedderburn. A Canadian-Jamaican expat who relocated to Mexico in 2018, Wedderburn created Casa ELM as more than just a place to stay—it is a welcoming cultural space that helps travelers and aspiring expats experience life in Mexico through a supportive and authentic lens.

After moving to San Miguel de Allende with her family, Wedderburn quickly recognized that many people—especially Black travelers and entrepreneurs—were curious about what life in Mexico was truly like. Through her experiences living abroad, she began sharing insights about culture, safety, and daily life in Mexico, eventually building a community that encourages people to explore new possibilities outside the United States.

Casa ELM grew out of that vision. Originally inspired by the idea of hosting wellness retreats and gatherings for women, the concept evolved into a boutique adults-focused guesthouse where travelers can relax, connect, and experience the vibrant culture of San Miguel de Allende.

Today, the property serves as both a boutique stay and a cultural hub—offering accommodations, retreats, relocation tours, and consultations for those considering living or working in Mexico. Wedderburn’s mission is to create a welcoming “soft landing” for visitors by providing comfort, community, and trusted guidance for exploring life abroad.
