Not Black Owned

A quick query shows this hotel is owned by Middlesex County after buying it from DEVCO. It was NEVR Black Owned. Tsk, tsk.

Update: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We appreciate readers helping us maintain the accuracy and credibility of Black Hotel Guide.

To clarify, our original listing did not state that The Heldrich Hotel was Black-owned. It noted that the property is managed by Pyramid Global Hospitality, a hospitality management company led by Warren Fields, one of the industry’s most prominent Black CEOs. Our intention was to recognize Black leadership in hospitality management, not to imply Black ownership of the property.

That said, your comment highlights the importance of making these distinctions even clearer. As a result of your feedback, we are updating this listing—and future listings—to more clearly identify whether a property is:

  • Black-Owned
  • Black-Led (managed or operated under Black executive leadership)
  • Community-Aligned (supporting Black hospitality through partnerships, leadership, or other meaningful affiliations)

Our mission is to provide travelers with transparent, well-researched information so they can make informed decisions about where they stay and who they support.

Thank you again for helping us improve the directory.
